About Me

Based in the beautiful Barossa Valley, South Australia, I’m a photographer with a passion for capturing the world, the people and the moments that catch my attention.

My photography covers a diverse range of subjects, from sports, events and portraits to creating WallArt for homes, businesses and personal spaces. I enjoy working with people to create images that are meaningful to them—whether that means capturing a special moment, the character and personality of an individual, the energy of a sporting event, or creating a distinctive piece of artwork for their wall.

A Lifelong Passion for Photography

My journey in photography has been one of continual learning, experimentation and discovery. I studied extensively at the Centre for Creative Photography (CCP) and have continued to develop my skills through ongoing self-education, experimentation and simply getting out there with a camera and discovering what is possible.

From 2010 to 2017, I served as President of the Port Adelaide Camera Club, where I was actively involved in supporting and encouraging other photographers. During this time, I also served on the committee of the South Australian Photographic Federation (SAPF).

My photographic work has been exhibited throughout South Australia, providing opportunities to share my images with a wide range of audiences and to have my work viewed and appreciated beyond the camera club environment.

My involvement in the photographic community has extended beyond creating images. I have had the privilege of judging photographic competitions at local, national and international levels, giving me the opportunity to view and assess an enormous variety of photographic styles and approaches.

Over the years, my own photography has also received numerous awards and recognitions, something I’m proud of, but which has never changed the reason I pick up a camera in the first place, the desire to create something that catches the eye, evokes an emotion and tells a story.

Sports & Event Photography

Sports photography has become a significant part of my work. I regularly photograph sporting events for The Leader, capturing the action, emotion and atmosphere that make community sport so special.

I also lead a small team of photographers covering the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant, formerly known as the Credit Union Christmas Pageant. Working with a team to photograph an event of that scale brings its own challenges and rewards, from capturing the performers and crowds to the unexpected moments happening throughout the day.

Over the years, I have also photographed a wide range of major events, including the Adelaide Zombie Walk, AVCON and Candance for a Cure, among many others.

These experiences have taught me that event photography isn't simply about being in the right place with a camera. It's about anticipating what is about to happen, understanding people, reacting quickly and being ready to capture the moments that might only exist for a fraction of a second.

Photographing the World Around Me

While commissioned photography is an important part of what I do, my personal photography is where I allow myself the greatest freedom.

I photograph landscapes, seascapes, urban and cityscapes, wildlife, flora, fauna, architecture, textures, patterns, abstract subjects and just about anything else that captures my attention.

Sometimes it is a spectacular landscape. Sometimes it is the way light falls across an ordinary object. It might be an animal caught in a fleeting moment, an unusual pattern in nature, the energy of a city, or something completely unexpected.

I don't believe photography needs to fit neatly into a particular category.

If something makes me stop, look twice and reach for my camera, it becomes a photograph.

Creating WallArt

One of the most rewarding aspects of photography for me is turning an image into something that can become part of someone's environment.

My WallArt is created from both commissioned work and my own personal photography. Whether it's a dramatic Australian landscape, an intimate portrait, wildlife, an abstract image or something completely different, my aim is to create artwork that has presence and gives people something they can connect with.

A photograph can be more than a record of a moment. It can bring back a memory, create a feeling, transport you to another place or simply make you stop and appreciate something beautiful.

My Approach

After many years behind the camera, I've learned that the most important part of photography isn't necessarily the equipment.......... it's seeing.

It's noticing the light, anticipating the moment, recognising emotion, finding beauty in unexpected places and having the patience to wait for the image to come together.

Whether I'm photographing a sporting event with hundreds of people, creating a portrait, working alongside a client to produce their perfect WallArt, or simply wandering with a camera looking for something that catches my eye, I approach every image with the same curiosity.

Photography is my way of seeing and sharing the world.

And there is still an awful lot out there that I haven't photographed yet.
